Snack & Sweet - An Introduction

Snacks are also referred to as Pala Karam (பலகாரம்) in Tamil meaning ‘many tastes' and are eaten mostly in the afternoons with tea and as a short eats at parties, functions and visitations. Some of these snacks are specially made for ceremonies like weddings and on religious occasions. Some of the snacks can be stored and made in advance to be consumed later. Some of these involve elaborate preparations and therefore not made that often.

Sweets are generally eaten after meals and as snacks similar to snacks described above. Snacks and sweets go together at ceremonies and parties in the Yarlpanam homes.
